Thermal insulation is the most important feature of modern glass. The first step in obtaining an improved glass, in terms of heat loss, was to create double-glazed windows.
The amount of air or inert gas between the windows constitutes a genuine, window surface thermal insulation, cutting to half the loss of heat through its surface.
PVC sealing technologies most commonly used are:
Hot melt – technology that uses a heated mixture for the second seal, heated above room temperature.
TES ( Thermal Edge Spacer) is a technology where the aluminum spacer is replaced with a PVC one.
The advantage of this technology is that there is no thermal bridge created by the spacer made of aluminium, reducing the risk of condensation on the glass perimeter. The disadvantage is that this technology involves expensive equipment and materials which raises the price of PVC package approx. by 5euro/mp.
